SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A rush of vandalism has business owners angry...and poorer. Twice in the last 3-weeks their businesses have been hit. Drive-by shooters have put high velocity pellets into their windows. “Glass was piled up everywhere,” said Janese Cunningham, a manager at the Lazy Mattress Company who was called by police in the pre-dawn hours of Monday. “There goes another thousand dollars every time...It just adds up.” Carman Mancuso runs a religious gift and book store on State Street. Even with high deductibles he said, “It gets very expensive.” In fact some owners won’t even turn in a claim out of fear their insurance rates will go even higher. Cunningham’s first reaction when she saw the damage, “Thanks, there goes my Christmas bonus!” A dozen businesses around 21st South and State have been targeted. The shooters hit at night when there are few witnesses – if any. Police have swept the scenes for clues but haven’t even been able to find the pellets
